Check Out Our Favorite Homemade Goodies!

At Stone Dog Inn we are always exploring new ways to provide the best quality of everything we possibly can to our pups, one of our favorite ways of doing so is our homemade treats! While the thought of making your pup homemade treats can sound intimidating we assure you, there are very delicious options with very little prep time.

Two of our absolute favorites are dehydrated sweet potatoes treats and frozen peanut butter coconut milk. Both are enjoyed by just about every pup and while dehydrated sweet potatoes can be given anytime, our frozen peanut butter coconut milk treats are a fan favorite on hot afternoons or as an after dinner pre-bedtime treat!

Dehydrated Sweets - 1lb Organic Sweet Potatoes

  1. We start by washing our organic sweet potatoes.

  2. Next we slice them lengthwise at about a ¼ inch thickness.*

  3. Into the dehydrator they go, see you soon! If using a traditional oven, heat to 250 degrees and bake for 2.5-3 hours.

  4. Depending on how many sweets we’ve got in the dehydrator, these can take anywhere from 12 - 36 hours.

  5. The sweets are ready when they are firm to the point where they don’t easily bend however not so firm that they’ve been turned extra crispy and brittle.

  6. We like them to be just right, however you may find your pup has their own preference so do what works best for you!

*Tip - When cutting the sweet potato lengthwise, it is much easier to manage if you cut one small slice, giving your potato a flat edge. Turn the potato on the newly cut flat edge and then proceed with cutting lengthwise.

Frozen Peanut Butter Coconut Milk - Jif Organic Creamy Peanut Butter & Organic Coconut Milk

  1. We start with a large bowl, mixing 1 can of organic coconut milk together. If you’re unfamiliar with canned coconut milk, you’ll find that it separates in the can depending on the temperature. Best to pour the canned coconut into the bowl first so that way you can combine the coconut milk into one consistency before adding in the peanut butter.

  2. Next we add 4 cups of peanut butter. Our go to for peanut butter is Jif Organic Creamy Peanut Butter but again, whatever your preference.

  3. Stir, stir, stir! This takes a bit of arm work, as an alternative, you could make a larger batch using a stand mixer.

  4. Once the mixture is completely smooth and consistent you’re ready!

Keep this versatile mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for easy access. Add the mixture to marrow bones or kongs and freeze for a frozen delight, or even use the soft mixture to sneak necessary medications into your pups meals!
